The Triiangle logo
A Logo.
No, literally. “A” Logo. A for Austin. The iconic Triiangle got its start as a stylized letter originally made by erasing a line through a triangle in MS Paint over a decade ago. Inspired by the integrated “ill” logo that EDM legend Skrillex touted as he rose to fame, the “A” logo quickly became the face of Austin's identity as an artist.
Now, not everyone gets it right on the first try. The “A” went through MANY iterations before any music was even posted online, living solely on Austin's old iPod nano.
Now, it's been updated for a new era. Featuring the “ii” from the end of his name, the logo represents duality and evolution, a beacon of human resistance in a world quickly overcome by generative AI.
A Name
CASUALTii, formerly known as Austin Haga
It's really, really hard to name things. Originally going by his legal name was a decision made out of convenience.
Or perhaps laziness. However, it became apparent that using one's “real” name could be used to indicate an authenticity as an artist. A down-to-earth, know-exactly-what-you're-getting kind of brand. Blindly defiant towards sample-based music (which, unbeknownst to him, made up the very backbone of his favorite music), every last note was synthesized and sequenced without a single loop from another human being. What you were hearing was Austin. Not a thing else.
Of course, he broke his own rule eventually on Lost Arts, Vol. 1, sampling (with permission) unreleased works from fellow St. Louis producer and songwriter Jonah Roy, who now has production credits for Brent Faiyaz and Tommy Richman. However, this project would give him a unique perspective on flipping samples into songs. Namely, his own samples.
Beat Swiitch
CASUALTii represents a duality - the two ‘i’s at the end of the name double as the numeral 2. While far from the first to do it, Austin draws from his wide arsenal of styles (indie-alt, funk, even full-on EDM) to create his more electronic songs. One track from his EP, LEX, takes its primary sample from his final release under the Austin Haga moniker (HELLO v2). As he learned from his work on LAV1, the life of a song is never truly over. Ask any artist and they'll tell you they have “dead” projects, songs they never released. The purpose of CASUALTii is to break that chain. You never know how different people will react to a piece of art, even if the artist themself isn't happy with it.
So, What Exactly Does He Make?
Everything. Austin takes inspiration from midwest emo, hip hop, R&B, electronica, EDM, grunge, alt rock, jazz fusion, and more. Whether each style is released in a song's final form will be anyone's guess. Right now, he's focused on getting people moving. Bass house, whatever the american version of UK Garage is, and glitchpop are his primary focuses. But you never know what he might do next.
